Preview project exhibit/ Worn/ 2015

Curated/commissioned by Gary Ross Pastrana

Shoes are considered as a basic need in modern society but heels in particular are adored fixtures in modern and contemporary fashion. Aside from their aesthetic features, they provide the wearer with extra height, with leaner and longer legs, and perked derriere. In Lou Lim’s resin sculptures, we encounter a realistic, almost grotesque physical merging of the wearer and the worn, wherein the body does not only strive to conform to what is “ideal” but is physically reshaped by it. – Lesley-Anne Cao
